Kitchen & Bath Design News - July 2010

This project was used as a "Case Study" and included the cover photo & a several page spread.

A kitchen designed to stand the test of time.

This highly efficient 1-cook kitchen can seat up to 17 adults all within earshot.

A large kitchen with essentials close by.
npark02.jpg
The island seats 2+, the pass-through 4, the breakfast room 6+ & the sitting/TV room 5 more.

Full custom cabinets are highly refined.

Classic detailing integrates seemlessly into this formal brick Georgian.

An external exhaust blower keeps things quiet.
npark04.jpg
Side-by-side 30" dual fuel Wolf ranges provide plenty of flexibility when cooking large meals.

The fridge has landing zones on each side.
npark05A.jpg
The 48" wide GE, built-in fridge was a reasonably priced alternative to a Sub-Zero unit.

The cooking area has ceiling-mounted TV speakers.
npark06.jpg
Even the cook can see the large flat-screen TV in the adjoining sitting room.

Fine moldings distinguish this pass-through.

A counter of Midnight Sun Schist in a Leather finish harkens back to black stone counters of old.

A load-bearing wall was removed here.
npark07.jpg
The previously cave-like sitting/TV room was connected to the kitchen by removing 3 walls.

The red background is in the wine room.

A full custom TV/storage/radiator unit was built onsite to manage sight lines and to maximize space.

The original 1919 Butler's Pantry was re-built.

The Butler's Pantry looks new after a complete re-build with the latest upgrades.

The walk-in pantry was also re-built.
npark11A.jpg
Roll-out trays, a 2nd mircrowave and other amenities were added during the re-building of this room.

The walk-in pantry.
npark12A.jpg
All of the cabinets were salvaged & refinished in the walk-in & Butler's pantries.

Note 2nd layer of granite to protect cabinet.

Hand-fired, crackle glaze, antique white tile has been mistaken by guests as original to the house.

The backsplash detail behind the range.

The raised decorative panel includes crackle glass that ties in nicely with the island granite.
